CHILD CARE AT THE YMCA
Children are like sponges – they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the YMCA of Long Island, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. Our Early Childhood, Before and After School and Child Watch programs are staffed with trained people who understand the cognitive, social/emotional and physical development of children. Children need to feel connected and supported in trying new things. Together, in collaboration with families, we create a warm and welcoming environment for the next generation.
At the Y, our youngest children develop trust and security through routines and new experiences, our preschoolers experience early literacy, math, and science and learn about their world, and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills, participate in specials and do homework. Most importantly, children learn how to be themselves. That makes for confident kids today, and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
