YMCA Summer Day Camp offers children positive developmental experiences and encourages them to forge bonds with each other and with staff, building confidence through skill-building activities suited to their age. Children experience a sense of achievement through opportunities in the outdoors and are welcomed to a physically and emotionally safe and stimulating environment.

Summer Day campers are able to explore creativity, teamwork and leadership in a wide range of physically active programs that influence lifelong healthy living. They have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor environment where they develop an appreciation of nature. Summer Day Camp builds an interest in community with experiences in local and global cultures where campers gain an appreciation for others different from themselves. Today, Summer Day Camp is more vital than ever, with an increased emphasis on child safety, summer learning traditions, personal values and social skills.

As with any Y program, the purpose of Summer Day Camp is to help youth grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. Summer Day Camps give young people an experience that can last a lifetime and inspire them to continue an involvement with the Y for years to come.

Session 3 August 8 – August 26

Bonus week available at some locations. Check back soon!

Need 1 week here? 2 Weeks There?

At the Y, we offer 3-week session blocks because we find that consistency helps kids form friendships, advance their swim skills, and experience everything our Summer Day Camps have to offer. That said, we know how busy families can be during the summer and if you need more flexibility, we’re here to help. If you’d like to purchase summer camp weeks “a la carte,” just come in and let us know which weeks work for your family.

Please be aware that to take advantage of flexible scheduling, you must register in person. Space may be limited. Flexible scheduling is offered based on camp capacity: children who are part of our 3-week sessions have priority on all off-campus trips.

The following limitations apply:

  • Discounts not applicable
  • Flex-fare available for 5 days a week programs only
  • Trips may be missed
  • Flex-fare rates will not be adjusted for new/additional registrations

REGISTER NOW! online or in-person.

Registration begins on Saturday, January 9th. Registration is taken on a first come, first served basis. There is limited enrollment per camping session so we urge that registration be made early and for the exact number of camping periods desired.

  • In-Person Registration starting January 10th at your local branch
  • Register at an Open House Event and meet the Directors and Camp Staff

Types of Camp

We provide a secure environment with a wide range of activities geared toward the preschool camper. Activities include: swimming lessons, arts and crafts, bouncy houses, challenge course activities, story time and much more. Children are grouped according to age when possible. Snack and drink are provided for the full day campers. Children eligible for Kiddie Kamp must be toilet trained. Staff/camper ratio is 1:5. (Groups are co-ed)

(Completed grades K-3)

This program encourages campers to have fun while participating in group activities that develop creativity. Swimming lessons, recreational swimming, theme days, arts and crafts, various sports, special events, challenge course activities and so much more are provided. Children are grouped according to grade.

(Completed grades 1-6)

This year the Glen Cove YMCA summer camp has decided to revamp the sports camp! Sports Camp hopes to create an environment for those campers who are “athletically enthusiastic.” The program will focus largely on skill development in all major and non-major sports. The focus of sports camp will not be on winning but on having fun, teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship. Our experienced sports camp director team will work on different skills pertaining to different sports daily. The hope is to have different sport clinics, guest speakers and sports tournaments. The sports campers will also be swimming on certain days, using the high ropes course and attending one field trip a session.

(Completed grades 4-6)

Junior Travel Camp is modeled after our Teen Travel Camp. This camp program is for campers grade 4-6 and will have two major areas of concentration. The first area will be participating in our many camp activities (swimming, high ropes, outdoor sports, arts and crafts, etc.). The second area of concentration will be traveling on various field trips 1-2 times a week. Some of the many field trips that we to offer include beaches, museums, arcades, aquariums, bowling, roller/ice skating etc. This camp is designed to meet the growing need of campers as they begin to mature. We hope that through character building, special activities (ran by specialist) and field trips that the campers will be able to develop new friendships and be excited for the eventual progression into Teen Travel Camp

(Completed grades 7 or 8 and 14 years old)

This year the Glen Cove YMCA has given its Too Cool for Camp a complete makeover! Teens can expect up to three action packed trips a week! The trips are guided towards helping teens work as a team, give them a new appreciation for community service and will allow them to learn in new fun filled environments. Teen Travel will give teens the opportunity to explore and find new passions but most importantly this camp looks to provide teens with the opportunity to enjoy a summer traveling while being treated as the young adults that they will soon become. On days that the camp will not be going on trips, the teens will be able to enjoy swimming, teen center, sports, crafts and much more. Teen Travel looks to give teens a break from the everyday camp life and give them a platform to express themselves and establish lifelong friendships.

(Must be 15 years old by June 29th)

The CIT program will combine fun at camp with leadership and on the job training skills. Our hope is that through this program campers will learn about the importance of helping the community through community service hours (community clean ups, bake sales, car washes etc.). The CIT program also hopes to build character through fun and educational trainings and workshops. CIT’s will also learn about job applications and job interviewing. The program hopes to put a big emphasis on continuing education through college tours and special speakers involved in exciting and up and coming job fields! CIT’s will also assist counselors with camp groups, participate in the major Teen Travel field trips and be treated more as young adults.
