The YMCA has several programs aimed at closing the Achievement Gap by focusing on early learning, stemming the summer learning loss, enriching the after school experience, and incorporating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) into all of our youth programming.
Statistics show that many children from low-income environments reach Kindergarten unprepared, and continue to fall behind without proper intervention. The Y’s Early Childhood Education Programs are designed to build potential and help close the Achievement Gap. The Y also offers STEAM Programs to all children—but particularly girls and low-income children—to expose and prepare them to develop the skills necessary for a career in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Together we can build Brighter Futures.
