POSITION SUMMARY:
The LMSW Counselor will be responsible for providing counseling services to individuals, families, and groups. They conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and offer therapeutic interventions for various mental health issues. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, case management, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. They also provide education and support to clients to help them manage their conditions. LMSWs in this role must adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintain accurate records, and stay updated with current practices and regulations in the field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Client Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments to understand clients' mental health status, needs, and risk factors. Crisis intervention intake and orientation.
• Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
• Counseling and Therapy: Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to address behavioral health issues.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage crises, providing immediate support and intervention, including after care planning.
• Case Management: Coordinate care with other service providers, monitor client progress, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with program requirements.
• Client Education and Advocacy: Educate clients about mental health, coping strategies, and available resources, and advocate for their needs within the legal and social services systems.
• Program Development: Participate in the development and improvement of program protocols and services.
• Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices, participate in training, and maintain licensure and certification requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Valid LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) license in the state of employment.
• Experience: Experience in behavioral health, mental health counseling, or a related field. Experience with diversion programs preferred.
• Skills: Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and case management abilities.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with mental health disorders and therapeutic techniques. Understanding of legal and ethical standards in social work.
• Interpersonal Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively with clients and community organizations.
• Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing training and staying updated with best practices in the field.
