POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The YMCA of Long Island is seeking a Director of Philanthropy who, under the direction of the President & CEO, will support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The incumbent will assist in meeting the Association’s strategic plan for Philanthropy and support Branch leadership with resources to meet goals set for campaigns.  In addition, the Director will support the Association in applying for multiple grants and sponsorship opportunities annually and work with Branches who receive grants.  The main accountability is to drive revenue to support the mission of the Y.    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

⦁    Organize, implement and support a comprehensive strategic philanthropy program in collaboration with the President & CEO, SVP & COO, executive and volunteer leadership.  
⦁    Prepare, submit and manage approximately 8-10 grant proposals and sponsorship opportunities annually from inception to application. 
⦁    Develop Annual Stewardship and cultivation for donors.  
⦁    Enter and manage information for donors, using the CRM software.
⦁    Support Branch staff and volunteers through training and coaching, to increase their success from direct and face-to-face solicitation efforts.
⦁    Track the performance metrics to measure ROI of each direct mail or online solicitation campaign.
⦁    Prepare and distribute reports for management.
⦁    Provide templates and examples of prospect/donor correspondence for Branch Executives.
⦁    Assist the President & CEO and SVP & COO in the execution of prospect/donor correspondence for the corporate office.
⦁    Develops profiles on the top businesses on Long Island with a documented plan to secure involvement and engagement
⦁    Support YMCA of Long Island’s  special events working with the Special Events Manager to ensure they are of the highest quality
⦁    Work closely with the Marketing and communications director to manage and promote a communication plan

QUALIFICATIONS:
⦁    BS/BA or equivalent, with five or more years fund-raising experience in donor relations, annual giving campaigns, grants coordination and special events.
⦁    Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting leadership level gifts to annual fund.
⦁    Demonstrated verbal and communiations skills, leading large and small group presentations, group faciliation and training.  Skills in written communicaitons to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations and similar narrative pieces.
⦁    Ability to ready, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports.
⦁    Experience working closely with volunteers and in staffing volunteer committees/events.
⦁    Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA.
