As 2019 comes to a close, I want to thank our members, board, donors, supporters, friends, and family for celebrating 100 years of the YMCA of Long Island.
We've had a tremendous year recognizing the positive impact that the YMCA has had on individuals, families, and communities for a century. But we didn't get here alone.
This year was a year of “thanks” to the thousands of people who touch the Y every day. To our members who choose the Y as your home away from home; to our donors that generously support our neighbors across the island; to our staff who dedicate their careers to further the Y’s mission – THANK YOU!
On September 19, 2019, with nearly 400 guests in attendance, we celebrated a century of positive impact at our 100th Anniversary Gala and honored several benefactors who made this impact possible. More than $450,000 was raised to provide programs and services to children, teens, adults, and families in need.

As we wrap up our milestone year, we look to 2020 as the year of inspirations. Inspiring the community through giving back and providing support to our communities, aspiring our youth to become the leaders of tomorrow, and achieving our personal health and fitness goals. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
This year has been off to a great start in our Preschool programs. With 100 Days of School, Fall Festivals, Snack with Santa and holiday activities, our preschool classrooms are full of learning, laughter, and friendships. Our School Age students have been just as busy with homework help, STEM projects, and fun holiday-themed projects in our Before and After School Programs. Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is just around the corner! Stay tuned for more information.
Calling all Child Care Professionals! We are hiring Site Directors, Group Leaders and Assistant Teachers for our Child Care and School Age Child Care programs. If you’re a working parent or want something fun for your child to do when school is out for Winter Break, there are limited spots available in our Holiday Camps. Our locations in Bay Shore, Glen Cove, Huntington, and Patchogue will offer Sports & Games, STEM and Arts & Crafts, Swimming, Special Theme Activities, and more. Registration is required. Dreaming of summer yet? Well, it’s almost time to register for Summer Day Camp! We are busy preparing for an amazing 2020 summer camp season and can’t wait to share with you all the new and exciting features. At the Y, youth and teens learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. One of the most important things we do at the Y is provide scholarships to children, teens, adults, and families. This year, we introduced YMCA Inspired Gifts that will help to provide programs and services that nurture youth development, foster healthy living and inspire social responsibility.
