POSITION SUMMARY:

The Great South Bay YMCA is seeking a HR/Payroll Coordinator who will provide primary responsibility for the interaction of all phases of the Business Office regarding hiring, payroll and HR. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and possess strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate and resolve issues with all levels of staff. Attention to detail required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Liaison between Branch employees/hiring managers and Association Office HR and Payroll department
• Distribute, gather, and review new hire/rehire files and documents, volunteer documents; ensure compliance with all phases of onboarding / hiring / terminations
• Ensure HR and Payroll documents are up to date and available as needed
• Knowledge of ADP, including but not limited to clearing exceptions, applying payroll codes, managing and reviewing timecards
• Monitor and approve Branch payroll, enter paid time off as approved by Executive Director, regularly check departmental exceptions
• Understand the basic chart of accounts payroll codes associated with positions, and be able to explain to newly hired managers
• Process criminal background and Meghan’s law checks, enter membership information into Christianson Computer Company (CCC) for all new hires/terminations/changes, distribute Employee ID numbers assigned by AO to appropriate department heads
• Handle branch HR issues / maintain contact with AO HR office
• Address any payroll issues on an ongoing basis
• Track personnel records, changes and staff certifications
• File branch records, as necessary • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, Business Office and other departments as needed, to ensure effective communication from the Executive and Business Office • Attend designated meetings and special events to build relationships with Y professionals/leaders and supporters • Actively participate in training sessions


QUALIFICATIONS:


• Associates degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of one year experience of administrative experience, working with staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and CCC
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication
• Excellent project management, and organizational skills
• General understanding of all business office procedures
