In Memory of Dave Williams

Dave Williams Headshot

After a stroke and hard fought battle with lung cancer, it is with great sadness we share the news that our beloved friend, colleague, Y board member, and volunteer, Dave Williams, passed away last night.

He fought with much determination, fortitude and spirit. We will all miss him, but he left a mark on all of us, and the great memories will live on.

To have known Dave, is to know he was a champion in every way.  He was resilient; a fighter. He was a leader, a family man, always thinking of others first, and working to make our community a better place to live, work, and play.

For more than ten years, Dave passionately dedicated his time to the Great South Bay YMCA and many other community organizations.  He was the YMCA Chairman of the Board for six years after serving as Treasurer for three years. Dave was an active volunteer for the Y helping to raise funds and awareness to bring programs and services for children, teens, families, and seniors in need. Dave was also very involved with countless community organizations, including St. Patrick’s Elementary School, St. John the Baptist High School, Great South Bay Cross Bay Swim, and TRI-ing for Kids, to name a few.

Dave touched so many people throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and two beautiful children, Shannon and Eric.

As Dave would have wanted, his family has requested that any donations be made in Dave’s name to the Great South Bay YMCA “Send A Kid To Camp” Campaign.

We thank you for your generosity to carry on Dave’s legacy.

Rest in peace, Dave.
