HUNTINGTON YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP

Our Huntington YMCA campers had a blast this week with so many fun activities from the magic show to the fun STEM projects to the fun teen trip adventure at Glen Cove. Huntington also had a theme week of sports day!

The campers had a visit from a magician this week. The campers got to see some amazing tricks and participated in the show! The Teens and Vipors were shown after the magic show how to do two different tricks that were not in the magic show. What an amazing opportunity! Now they can amaze their families and friends with their talents.

Today was Sports day where we loved dressing up as our favorite sports player! We saw hockey jerseys, soccer shirts and even baseball jerseys.

At STEM this week, campers made crystals! They had so much fun learning how to make crystals with borax and water! Campers were in awe when they saw the reaction happening and watching those crystals form! The arts and crafts project this week was all about tie-dye! The campers loved making fun patterns and seeing the surprise when it was dry.

The Teens visited YMCA at Glen Cove for the ropes course and the pool this week. The teens had a blast on the zipline! Campers cheered on their peers and were eager to go on it again! After their time at the zipline, they went straight to the pool, and enjoyed the mushroom umbrella splash pool! Teen campers loved sitting under it and letting the water trickle down their backs on a hot day. Teens enjoyed playing games in the pool!

Our campers even got to try out the new Crossnets outside! What a great chance to play a four-way volleyball game! Campers loved to challenge themselves and

GREAT SOUTH BAY YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP

Our Great South Bay campers had so much fun this week! Campers enjoyed their pre-teen/ teen trip on the Yankee III boat. Campers had a blast at STEM and Gameland.

Teen Camp and groups 5 & 6 of pre-teen had a fun-filled day fishing on the Yankee III out of Captree! Campers were taught how to drop their lines down and were off and fishing! No keepers were caught but everyone had fun!

At STEM this week, campers got to mix different liquids together to form a crazy reaction! Kids were shocked to see that it would foam and bubble over! At arts and crafts, campers made popsicle art!

Campers enjoyed Gameland this week! Kids loved to play with the blocks, build bucket towers with friends, and learn how to share. Campers also played with Legos and competed with their friends to see how tall they could make their tower!

This week was our Counselor versus Camper Volleyball Tournament! Campers enjoyed getting ready, the counselors passed out Y branded head bands to everyone!

PATCHOGUE FAMILY YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP

Jester Jim, a comic juggler, visited our Patchogue Family YMCA campers this week!  Our Preteen and teen campers went to Farmingdale Gymnastics and the movies!

It was another hot week at summer camp, our campers got to cool off with ice pops while having a great time during recreational swim. Our kiddie campers are also enjoying swim lessons and are doing so well! They are learning the swimming basics like learning the strokes, how to stay afloat and more!

The Campers really enjoyed Jester Jim, the cosmic juggler. The campers got to take turns participating in the juggling and some even learned to juggle for the first time ever! The kids wowed at how many items he juggle at one time!

The Teens had so much fun at gym, doing the balance beam, doing col tricks on the trampoline. Some campers even enjoyed the Nijia ramp. Campers challenged each other to see who can reach the top of the ramp the fastest. Campers even had the opportunity to try the bars into the foam pit!

YMCA AT GLEN COVE

Session 4 is off to a great start here at Glen Cove for Color Wars week! The campers enjoyed participating in relays and color wars! Camp counselors enjoyed playing games to win points for their teams.

The camp counselors participated in a frozen t-shirt contest. Split into two teams, the red team versus the green team, whichever team could pull apart frozen t-shirts and put them on the fastes is the winner. The counselors used creative ways to unfreeze the shirts including throwing them on the sidewalk, dunking them in the pool or playing tug-of-war with the shirts in order to melt the ice. In the end, the red team won, but it was great teamwork amongst all of our counselors.

The campers enjoyed the magic show this week! The magician moderated a counselor word shuffle contest that had all the campers excited and cheering. Two counselor teams of 4 were holding a letter and when the magician would state the word, the counselors needed to correctly spell the word as quick as possible to win. The campers were the judges and their cheers helped select the winning team. Everyone had so much fun! Plus, one of our campers performed a levitation illusion with the magician. We still don't know how he did that!

To conclude Color Wars week, our campers and counselors participated in our color run! Campers wore white shirts and ran past color stations where bright-colored powder pigment was thrown. The kids were covered in pink, orange, yellow and blue! They had a blast and many of them said that they would do it again!

Think Wellness New York visited the campers at Glen Cove this week. The children were able to get their hands messy, create seed bombs out of soil, seeds, clay and water and were able to hide them around the campgrounds.
