The YMCA at Glen Cove offers programs that are specially designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of today’s pre-teens.  With our wide variety of programs, we help them to develop positive self-esteem and become strong, capable adults while providing an opportunity for self-expression in a safe environment.  We are counting on preteens and teens to play important roles in the life of the community.
YOGA ROCKS! TWEENS
This class is geared to children over 11 years old, teaches them challenging yoga poses in safe, alignment oriented yet fun methods; coupled with breathing and relaxing techniques. As a result of continuous yoga practice, tweens will improve their mental focus and concentration skills, stretch and strengthen their bodies, increase their balance and stamina, enhance the brain, create a positive attitude and learn to de-stress, remain calm, and relax. These benefits will increase their self-esteem and improve their overall well-being. 60 minute program. 

Ages 11+

PRE-TEEN WEIGHT WORKOUT
An introduction class to the weight room. Learn proper training techniques and also how to design an effective training program that will enhance your performance and reduce the risk of injury. Workout Smart! 45 minute program.

KARATE
On going year round program for children and teens combining traditional Shotokan Karate methods with modern, self defense techniques.  Builds self-confidence, respect, discipline, a strong mind and body. Instructor:  Sensei Victor. 90 minute program.
